Born in Sugarland, Texas near where the Lomaxes discovered Leadbelly, Paul Nabil Matthis moved to Los Angeles in 2004 to score films. He started writing lyrics almost immediately, which didn’t jive so well with the film thing, so instead he worked as a recording engineer at the Boat Studio in Silverlake. He was eventually asked to leave for drinking on the job with Johnny Rotten, which he doesn’t regret even slightly. He has a Master’s degree in music from CalArts, which he promises not to let go to his head.

Each track on the Only In Dreams EP is based on a dream Paul had, except for the title track which is based on several. Paul enjoys Radiohead, short- to medium-length walks on the beach, and writing bio blurbs in the third person.
